Microsoft has recently announced the continuation of their Big Easy Promotion with version 4.0 running from January 1, 2010 to March 31, 2010. Are you looking to finally implement some new technology that you’ve been holding off on? You should seriously consider doing it while this promotion is running. Here’s why:
Let’s say you are planning to implement Dynamics CRM Enterprise with 75 Full client access licenses and 75 limited use and access licenses with read-only access. You also need to purchase a Windows Enterprise Server and a SQL Enterprise Server for the data store. If you were to purchase these products through the Open Value program, which includes software assurance with the licenses, you would be paying approximately $43,000 for the CRM component and another $1,700 for the Windows server and just over $6,700 for the SQL server, annually. For this example, we will assume there are already client access licenses in place for the Windows server and SQL Server. This gives us a cost of approximately $51,400. Through the big easy promotion if you were to take into account just the CRM licenses you'd receive a rebate of $12,410. If you add the Windows server to your rebate application, this increases the unit rebate amounts for each item bringing the amount you would receive now on the CRM licenses up to $18,405. If adding a third product family such as the SQL Server, this increases the CRM component again to $24,700, then add the rebate amount for the Windows server and SQL Server and this brings the total rebate to $27,325.
This rebate would be directed towards one of your business partners to pay for either services or additional software or hardware. This covers more than half of the cost of the first year’s license payment or a significant piece of the services to get this product installed and running. Microsoft has set these numbers to provide the biggest rebate for the products purchased through the value program (which includes software assurance) to help promote sales of software assurance. However when you consider the fact that dynamics CRM is one of those rare products that is not available as a license only, purchasing the Windows server and SQL Server through the same program with software assurance is not such a difficult expense to justify when it takes the rebate amount from $12,410 up to $27,325. That more than covers the cost of software assurance on the two server products.
If you would like to estimate the amount of rebate you could receive on a project you're working on, you can go to the Microsoft Big Easy Page . If you're interested in finding out more about how these programs work or would like an analysis done on the various options for your project, please feel free to contact me at 519-269-9814.
